2.2.1 Perfect Cubic Structure

If the material shows a perfect cubic lattice, no ferroelectricity can be observed. A typical perovskite showing no ferroelectric phase at room temperature is $\mathrm{SrTiO_3}$. Still, as the $\mathrm{ABO_3}$ structure is set up by ionized atoms, an electric field will lead to a dislocation of these ions, which will raise an electric moment. Finally these effects will increase the overall displacement and the dielectric susceptibility $\chi =
\epsilon_\mathrm{r}-1$.
