8.6.2 Generalization of the Tool Abstraction Concept

The TAC is currently used to create LISP bindings for C-coded functions. It is known that this mechanism can be generalized to create FORTRAN bindings and tool control panels as well. Another conceivable generalization is the generation of separate executables from C-coded functions. It may be expected that this leads to further simplifications in the use of VISTA as development and integration environment.
