VORONOI is right now primarily used as a tool for creating a triangular geometry-conforming grid from an existing grid which does not conform to the geometry and for the inevitable interpolation onto the new grid points which are created in this step. Figure 6.5 shows planned extensions to VORONOI, which will enable its use for initial grid generation for process and device simulation, as general point clou interpolator, as skeleton generator, and, as already depicted in Chapter 7, as grid-oriented wafer state manager.
