Within this work the two-dimensional device simulator Minimos-NT has been extended to a multi-dimensional simulator. Therefore all models and all data structures, methods and libraries which handle grids, vectors, quantities, or geometric information had to be analyzed for their applicability to three-dimensional tasks. In the following the state of the version of Minimos-NT which acted as a starting version for all extensions is described as far as it is necessary to explain the improvement of the simulator design. This version is referred to as two-dimensional version of Minimos-NT.
