5. A Test Case for NanoTCAD: Resonant Tunneling Structures
In this chapter we discuss a device
structure whose working principle is based on
quantum mechanics: the resonant tunneling diode.
We summarize basic facts of the fundamental
physics of resonant tunneling diodes. Our review is based
on material from the recent monograph [MT95].
