6. Extraction of Compact Model Parameters

A very important application of device simulation is the extraction of parameters for compact models for newly designed devices. The compact models can then be used in circuit simulators to simulate circuits of several thousand active devices. The results of these circuit simulations are used to build libraries for VLSI design.
