The grid generator MESHCP does not posses a separate window on the user interface. The task level code rather tries to invoke the grid generator intelligently by searching for and preparing the necessary input files for MESHCP. Thus after editing a geometry with the PED it is usually sufficient to invoke the mesher from the menu entry which performs the necessary steps to create a valid input PIF file and a corresponding input deck used by MESHCP and VLSICP.
The task level code tries to find an existing input deck in the current directory. However, when creating a new geometry with PED such an input deck is not available. Therefore the most recent PIF or PIF binary file is searched in that directory and used as the geometry input source. A corresponding input deck is created automatically, which is sufficient for the computation of all capacitances of a linear problem.
If neither a PIF nor PIF binary file could be found, an old-style input file is searched, and translated into a PIF binary file through a converter written in LISP and executed on the task level. The input deck is modified appropriately to account for the PIF geometry input mode then.
Finally, after the MESHCP input has been prepared, MESHCP is invoked. Its output appears on the terminal window where VISTA has been started from.
