4.1 Discretization

The choice of discretization can have a major impact on the convergence properties of a nonlinear equation solver. Similarly also the meshing can have a major influence. However, in our case we are using an equispaced ortho-grid in one dimension. As even global refinement is feasible we can hardly blame meshing for observed convergence problems. Hence we start to work on the discretization.
