4.5.7 Graphical User Interface

A Graphical User Interface for the optimizer module is integrated into the SIESTA framework. This allows the user to track the optimization process in order to estimate whether it is successful.

In Figure 4.19 the Graphical User Interface of the optimizer module is shown. In the upper part, the textual description of the optimization experiment is displayed. For tracking the optimization process the model evaluations are shown in the lower half. In the tree widget on the left side several of the optimization parameters can be selected. The screen shot shows the user interface of the example shown in Section 4.5.4 and a value graph of the free parameters a2 and a3 of the first eight evaluations starting from 0. Additional curves can be added in a new frame beneath the current curve, if parameters of differing magnitude are visualized.
