As technology moves ahead, the need for TCAD and its usage increases dramatically. Whereas in the recent past, analytical models and back of the envelop calculations provided the basic tools for technology characterization and design, TCAD is presently filling this role. The task modules, representations, and related methodologies discussed in this thesis, are the foundation for present and future applications that provide TCAD frameworks capabilities to the technologist users. This critical role is highligthed by the two-dimensional profiling technique and the other TCAD tasks characterization applications described.
